Events planned for 2008 Filming with the BBC On Monday 26th May 2008 Christina and her family were asked to take part in a BBC documentary type programme exploring the pitfalls of the Beauty Industry. Konnie Huq the presenter of the show (due to be screened sometime in June/july) went out with Christina & daughter Nicole, into the city centre of Sheffield to get a view of what the general public thoughts were about body piercing and to get support and collect signatures for their petition, urging the government to regulate body piercing premises. Dan Aid are working in partnership with BBC Radio Sheffield, Sheffield's Health Protection Service, Sheffield Safeguarding Childrens Board, Thou Art Body Piercing Studios and local MP Meg Munn & Meg's PA, Mike Harrison to improve the Body Piercing Industry. Fund Raising Event 13/06/08 "Joseph's Well" Leeds Friday June 13th 2008 CVS volunteer, Louise Rigg @ BBC Leeds presented a live music event at "Josephs Well" to raise the awareness amongst young people in Leeds about the issues of safe piercing. Dan Aid Campaign/Charity News We are in the process of gaining charitable status for Dan Aid and we are very excited at this prospect. We all feel that this is very much the most natural progression for our campaign. We are hoping to recruit many volunteers to help us promote our important work we are currently doing in secondary schools. We also have many other ideas for the development of Dan Aid, especially working with young people in their neighbourhoods/environments. | WOW!! On Tuesday 24th June 2008, we handed our petition over to the Prime Minister at number 10 Downing Street, Whitehall, London SW1A 2AA, requesting him and his Government to urge all local health authorities to implement the Bylaw to help regulate Body Piercing practices/premises within the UK. |
