Dan Aid "Mix & Mash"
Josephs Well, Hanover Walk, Leeds,
Friday 13th June 2008
Louise's Blurb

Dan Aid "Mix & Mash" was a CSV Agent 4 Change event
aimed to raise awareness about safer body piercing.
The event was held at the "Josephs Well" in Leeds,
and its aim was to bring the Dan Aid message and
charity to a Leeds audience, helping young people
to be more aware of the dangers of body piercing.
The event was to raise money for the charity and
make Dan Aid known to the gig go-ers of Leeds.
Although the event was hosted in the "it" venue for
rock music in Leeds, there was an electric mix of styles
where bands and gig go-ers alike could come along
and try something different all in the name of Dan Aid.

The originality of the bands styles made this a mix and mash to enjoy,
debate and consider. The different styles of Dan Audio with his large
percussion set paired with acoustic sets from the charming
Scott McEwan (formerly a member of established band Caffeine)
partnered with the light and emotional Unfinished Drawings
(who recently supported Feeder) and heavy metal band
Kill All Enemies made the night a mash of music mayhem.
Girl Kills Boy brought fun and frolics with their onstage spinning
and punk style madness with the sombre tones of Firesuite.
The night was original and authentic and all the bands volunteered
their voices, talents and time to raise awareness for Dan Aid
and promote the signing of the petition for safer piercing practice.

and finally...
Even though this event clashed with Download Festival, spirits were
high, all bands who volunteered to play took the time to watch and
support the other acts, trying something new, even if they hated it!
This made the night interesting and buzzing with opinions and
speculation. Having Firesuite, a Sheffield band closely linked with
the charity Dan Aid open the night, was unplanned but a beautiful
start to the evening which tempo only grew till the finale with Dan
Audio, who read facts about Dan Aid and even put Dan Aid into his
lyrics and instrumentals to highlight his support for the campaign.

The event was a success in bringing awareness and all band
members wore the Dan Aid pin badges to show their support.
The host Neil Kingston interviewed the bands and aired
the charities aims on stage so the audience throughout
the entire night were aware of the Dan Aid message.

Leeds welcomed Dan Aid and will continue to spread the message.

THANK YOU...
To the lovely Louise and colleagues at BBC Leeds, who put this amazing event on for us at "Josephs Well"
on Friday the 13th June 2008. This was a very special evening for us and Louise did an awesome job.
We are increasingly promoting our campaign work amongst young people on a local,
regional and a national basis and this event, we hope is just one of many more to come.
Jane our treasurer went along and had a fantastic evening. Jane even managed to sell some
of our lovely new pin badges as well as collect lots more important signatures for our petition.

WOW!
A very generous £176.32 was raised for Dan Aid throughout the evening.

Well Done and Thank you to Louise, all the Bands and everyone involved in this Musical Extravaganza!
