WOW!! What an Incredible Achievement!
"When you first came in to school and you told us about your loss of Dan I felt very lucky for the same thing not to have happened to me. Then afterwards I wanted to warn people what piercings could do to you so I told all my relatives. Then at school, me and my friends all said that we wanted to raise money for Dan Aid. So we booked the library and we raised £111.47 I am so grateful that you came into school and told me of this tragic story it made me realise what people are in danger of and to make other people realise what can happen if you are not careful. Thank you ever so much Christina it has been a pleasure meeting you and hope we raise a lot of money at school for Dan Aid." Megan Heathcote Stocksbridge High School xxxx

Fundraising Event at Stocksbridge Library Thursday 19th February 2009 With the year 8's from Stocksbridge High School, Nan's, Mum's & Friends

These kind hearted, generous, thoughtful children, supported by parents and grandparents put a fantastic "Fund Raising" event on at Stocksbridge Library on Thursday 19th February 2009, and raised an amazing £111.47 for Dan Aid.
A Very Special Thank you to; Abbie & India, Megan & Callie, Megan & Neve, Daisy & Daniel, Lewis & Tom, Sophie, Charlotte, Adam and Harry, Mum's, Nan's, friends and well wishers too. "Fancy Dress" was the theme for this fund raising event and the children looked AMAZING! The children also made frontpage - headline news on their local weekly newspaper..." Look Local" 26/02/09 You Guys are Totally Awesome!!
These inspiring children gave up their free time during half term to make all their own posters & leaflets, to promote and carry out this event. Some of these children had recently had a Dan Aid workshop at Stocksbridge High School and they wanted to show their support for our campaign, by helping to raise awareness amongst the general public in Stocksbridge about the dangers of "body piercing". They wandered outside in the freezing cold, to hand-out Dan Aid leaflets and badges to the unsuspecting public passing by. Their determined and friendly approach, persuaded some of the local shoppers to take a wander into the library for a warm welcoming drink and maybe to pick up a bargain or two!! It was very touching to see the level of commitment and dedication that these children displayed.
Here's what some of the children had to say!
Adam says... "Great to do Christina and My Mates Inspired Me to Do it"
Megan says... "Wow What can i say i can't Believe we raised so much i'm really happy"

Emily Gadd - reporter for the "Look Local" weekly Stocksbridge newspaper says... "I interviewed Dan's mum, Christina, for a newspaper article about the event and was struck by how strong and determined she is, despite the loss of her son. She is completely dedicated to Dan Aid and campaigns tirelessly for more information to be available regarding the risks associated with body piercings. It is remarkable that such a positive achievement could be born of such a tragedy. It was inspiring to listen to Christina, and I wish her and Dan Aid every success."
Emily Gadd says... "I was extremely impressed with how the Stocksbridge students organised and ran their fundraising event. It's easy to sympathise with a tragedy but not so easy to do something to help. They raised a fantastic amount of money and they should be very proud of themselves."
