My name is Tom, I'm 16 years old, and am currently an A-level student at King Edward VII School in Sheffield. My hobbies include rugby, fencing and running. I'm also a keen marksman, and compete in NRA shooting competitions for the Army Cadet Force. I love literature, history and spending time with my friends (generally playing sports!) I wanted to get involved with Dan Aid because I think that raising social awareness about body piercing and the dangers that can accompany it is a crucial issue. There are too many young people who don't know about the risks that they may be taking when they get a piercing, and as a part of Dan Aid, I want to help tackle that problem! Tom Quant |

| Sometimes young people heed the advice and guidance given by their peers, at times, rather than their parents/carers. As our key messages about body piercing are about making informed choices, it is one that is significantly understood and shared by their peers, therefore we feel it is vitally important in getting young people involved in promoting our safety messages as part of our ongoing awareness campaign work. |
| Meet Tom Quant, one of our of Peer Presenters |
Throughout the Spring & Summer of 2009 we have been planning and developing our educational project. One of the most exciting and enjoyable events so far was our Peer Presenter Audition that took place at The Circle in Sheffield in September. This was attended by several young people, all of whom had their own reasons for wanting to be a part of our team. All the applicants were put through a number of (presenter style) tasks. This helped us to assess their suitability for the role of Peer Presenter. The successful students that were chosen are: Tom Quant & Rowen Faith - King Edward VII School Luke Wood - Ecclesfield School Jessica Preston - Stocksbridge High School Our Peer Presenters have each had the chance to work with our filming crew and have demonstrated a great deal of maturity, commitment and care to their work, while showning a willingness to learn new skills. |

| We are very furtunate and proud to have these young people working alongside us. This will help us to deliver an excellent resource pack for secondary schools across the UK, that young people will be able to identify with. This in turn will enable us to educate many more young people about the risks and dangers of body piercing. |
| Tom, Rowen, Luke & Jessica come highly recommended to us, by their respective teachers: Kim Wilson (KES), Julia Cook (ES) and Janine Walker (SHS) |
