Together We
Can Make A Difference.
WOW!
We are very pleased to announce that we handed our petition in to the
Prime Minister Gordon Brown on Tuesday the 24th June 2008,
requesting him to urge all local Health Authorities to implement to
new Bylaw to help regulate the body piercing industry.
Our total signature count is;
3,946
A very special THANK YOU to everyone for signing our petition
In Dec 2002 my son Daniel died from septicaemia which he developed after having a body piercing.
Our Campaign Dan Aid was set up by Dan's family in Feb 2003, to highlight the governments
lack of control over the Body Piercing Industry. We were shocked and outraged to find
out how little is in place regarding the laws and regulations of this popular practice.
In fact we found that most councils only have voluntary guidelines in place although most do offer a
Code of Practice but many Local Health Authorities are not regulating piercing premises properly.
There is currently no Government recognised qualification in place to educate Body Piercers.
We have been campaigning tirelessley since Dan's death to bring strict government guidelines
in across the whole country. We have always had the full support of our local MP Meg Munn.
Partly due to our Dan Aid campaign the Local Government  Act of 2003 was amended to give
local councils more power to regulate Body Piercing premises. My local MP Meg Munn and her
PA Mike Harrison have got evidence that in fact very few councils have actually implemented this.
We hope that this petition will go some way to get the message to the Prime Minister and his
Government that they MUST urge all local councils to act on the powers given to them in 2003
to regulate Body Piercing premises before we have another unnecessary tragedy as Dan's.

By signing our petition you have shown your support for our cause and
hopefully helped us to protect many more young lives.
